Poi Dogs Day Care & Boarding
Rules & Regulations
E komo mai! Thank you for choosing Poi Dogs Day Care & Boarding for the socialization, stimulation and educational needs of your dog.
Assessment Process:
Each dog goes through a temperament assessment prior to using any of our services. The assessment lasts for a minimum of 4 hours and is done by appointment only, Monday through Saturday mornings, starting at 9 am. At the scheduled time, a current vaccination record is required proving that Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza and Parvo Virus (DHPP) and Bordetella are up-to-date. During the assessment, your dog will meet our pack and have time to acclimate with the new environment and staff. For your convenience, an assessment application is available online here.
All forms and disclaimers must be signed by the owner(s) of the dog at the time of the assessment.
Spay/Neuter:
All dogs must be spayed or neutered, over the age of 6 months to use our services.
Vaccinations:
The Bordetella and DHPP vaccinations are required for all dogs who attend Poi Dogs Day Care & Boarding. Owners are responsible for providing updated vaccination records to Poi Dogs Day Care & Boarding via hard copy or email to info@poidogs.com. Failure to provide vaccination records could result in the cancellation of day care/boarding reservations.
Collars/ID:
Dogs must come in on a leash and wear a quick release collar with ID tag. Owners are encouraged to have their dogs microchipped and have a registered dog license with the City & County of Honolulu.
Well-being:
We believe that all of our clients are responsible pet owners and will take precautions to protect each dog from communicable illnesses. For this reason, Poi Dogs Day Care & Boarding expects all owners to certify that dogs are in good health and don’t have any condition that could endanger other dogs. Any dog who has been diagnosed with Bordetella, in any capacity, will be required to have a veterinarian clearance before returning to Poi Dogs. Other communicable conditions include giardia and worms.
Fleas & Ticks:
All dogs are required to be on a monthly flea and tick preventative (excluding flea/tick collars). Dogs who are found to have fleas/ticks will be given a flea/tick bath with charges applied to the owner. If any dog is found to have fleas/ticks upon returning to Poi Dogs Day Care & Boarding, he/she will be sent home.
Food/Medication:
Poi Dogs Day Care & Boarding will only feed what is provided by owners and is happy to administer necessary medications to dogs in need. All food and medication should be labeled with the dog's first and last name and packaged in an airtight container or ziplock bag. Medications should be in their original containers for identification purposes.
Changes in Behavior:
Poi Dogs Day Care & Boarding keeps open communication with owners about changes in their dog's behaviors. Dogs who attend Poi Dogs Day Care & Boarding must be non-aggressive and not food/toy possessive. We do our best to work through behavior issues while at day care, however there are some situations where dogs exhibit behaviors that pose a threat to the pack and/or employees. If undesirable behaviors continue/escalate, Poi Dogs Day Care & Boarding reserves the right to refuse service.
Day Care:
After the assessment is complete, dogs are welcome to attend day care during normal hours of operation (see below). All dogs are required to be checked in for day care and boarding by 1 pm. Reservations are required for day care. Any dog that has been out of daycare for six months or more will need to do a re-assessment. Charges will be applied.

We want your dog to be comfortable while staying with us. Regular day care dogs who attend day care on a weekly basis can make reservations to board at any time.
